This article aims to analyze, albeit concisely, the issue of gender equality in the shipping sector, with an emphasis on the national scenario. To this end, it seeks to follow a line of reasoning that starts with an analysis of historical aspects up to the results of the most recent research on the subject in Brazil and around the world. In addition to a diagnosis of the current situation, a prognosis for reducing gender inequalities is outlined.
